A super quick fruit salad with only 3 ingredients! For very little time and effort, you get an impressively sweet and tart fruity side dish.
I banded together with a group of blogging friends to put together holiday menu plans to share with you all for the next few months. By the time I got around to signing up for spaces, a lot of the dessert opportunities were gone.
I ended up slated for a lot of salads and side dishes! Those aren’t in really in my wheelhouse since I almost exclusively share desserts on the blog. Also not in my comfort zone: gross Halloween food.
Sorry, can’t do it. 🙂 I needed to make a Halloween salad to share as part of the Halloween menu, and I just do not have it in me to make something bloody and grotesque and call it food. I think those recipes are awesome, and I marvel at them on Pinterest, but I can’t make myself make them. Do you know what I mean? They’re so cool and creative, but I know that I won’t eat the actual food.
My food must appear pretty and appetizing. Hence, my Halloween salad is not at all gory or grotesque. Sorry!!! I found a way to still make this a little bit Halloween-ish though by cutting the apple slices with Halloween cookie cutters. That’s as close as I think I can get. I’m more into cute Halloween food with ghost and bat-shaped sprinkles than I am to the gory stuff.
It’s a delicious salad though, appropriate for fall, and couldn’t be easier to make. Throw three ingredients in a bowl, and stir. Apples, cranberry sauce, and walnuts are practically made to be together!
- 1 - 14 oz. can whole berry cranberry sauce
- 2 large apples, sliced ¼-inch thick, cut with small Halloween cookie cutters
- ½ c. chopped walnuts
- In a medium bowl, gently stir together all ingredients.
- Store in refrigerator.
