Grand Marnier & Kahlua Hot Chocolate Lattes

A rich, creamy, hot chocolate from-scratch, simmered with orange peel, boosted with coffee, and spiked with Grand Marnier and Kahlua.

  • 2 c. whole milk
  • 1 c. strongly brewed coffee
  • 1/3 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp. sugar
  • 3 - 3- inch strips orange zest peeled with a paring knife or potato peeler
  • 1/2 c. Grand Marnier
  • 1/2 c. Kahlua
  • whipped cream
  • chocolate shavings
  • grated orange zest


  1. In a large saucepan over low-medium heat, whisk together whole milk, coffee, cocoa powder, sugar, and orange zest strips.
  2. Cook, stirring frequently, until cocoa powder and sugar are dissolved, and the mixture reaches a low simmer.
  3. Remove from heat, and discard orange zest strips.
  4. Stir in Grand Marnier and Kahlua.
  5. Divide into mugs.
  6. Top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and grated orange zest. Serve hot.
