Ingredients
For pie:
19-inchstore-bought prepared pie crust
1cupgranulated sugar
1/4cupall-purpose flour
1/2tsp.apple pie spice
1/4tsp.nutmeg
1/4cupmelted butter
1tsp.almond extract
6mediumapplespeeled, thinly sliced
1cupfresh cranberries
For streusel & topping:
1/2cuppacked brown sugar
1/3cupall-purpose flour
1tsp.cinnamon
1/4cupcold butter
1/2cupsliced almonds
vanilla ice creamoptional
Instructions
For pie:
Arrange pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate, and crimp or scallop the edges.
In a large bowl, stir together granulated sugar, flour, apple pie spice, and nutmeg.
Add the melted butter and almond extract, stirring to combine.
Add the apples and cranberries, stirring gently to coat.
Arrange the apple and cranberry mixture into the pie shell. This will take a bit of finesse to get everything to fit snug!
For streusel & topping:
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon.
Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbles.
Stir in sliced almonds.
Sprinkle over pie.
Bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 minutes, or until apples are tender when pricked with a fork or toothpick.
Cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before cutting and serving. Can be served warm or cold!
