Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. lean ground chicken turkey, or pork (we mostly use chicken)
  • 2 tbsp. chopped fresh sage leaves
  • 2 tbsp. chopped fresh thyme remove pods and leaves from stem first, discard stems, then chop the remaining pods and leaves
  • 2 tbsp. fennel seed
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 c. maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp. butter or olive oil divided

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine meat, sage, thyme, fennel seed, salt, pepper, and maple syrup.
  • Stir until blended.
  • Shape into 3-inch patties, about 1/2-inch thick.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp. butter.
  • Add patties to the pan, cook for about 3 minutes on each side, or until crispy and brown, and repeat with remaining patties.
  • Serve hot with breakfast!
