Super fudgy and chocolatey brownies loaded with leftover Halloween candy, and then dunked in chocolate! These Candy Bar Brownies are an easy and delicious way to use up your Halloween stash! These Brownie Candy Bars, or Candy Bar Brownies are not to be underestimated – they’re so, so good!
Hi!! Happy Friday Eve! There’s a Bills game tonight, AND tomorrow’s Friday. Does life get better than that?
How was your Halloween? Do you have candy leftover to make these Candy Bar Brownies? Or one of my many other recipes that use up leftover candy? 🙂
We’ve still had a lot of cat drama in my house lately between the kitten and my 18 y/o cat – both having health issues – so I was feeling SO scrooge-y about Halloween this year. I didn’t want to hand out candy at all. I wanted to turn off all the lights in the house, and sit there in the dark so they’d leave us alone. Isn’t that awful??
As evening drew near though, I started to come around and I actually looked forward to trick-or-treaters. We ended up getting only TWO! Instead of boycotting Halloween like I planned to, Halloween boycotted me. We’ve never had so few! How many did you get? Do you get a lot where you live?
This is the least we’ve ever gotten. It’s crazy. As it was, we’d overbought on candy, so now we seriously have a ton of leftover Halloween candy. The need to make these Candy Bar Brownies is real.
Of course, I bought candy in advance of Halloween to make leftover Halloween candy recipes for the blog, but now I really have leftover Halloween candy that I need to use up. Too much candy… what terrible problems.
A few years ago I made these Leftover Halloween Candy Bar Brownies. They’re just brownies with a crapton of candy bars stuffed into them. Super simple to make, however, they’re unbelievable. I mean, really unbelievably gooey and ridiculous. They’re so, so good.
Based on the popularity of those, I had this idea to make actual Candy Bar Brownies… like brownies with candy bars, made into candy bars. Get it?? Fun, huh? So I just remade those Candy Bar Brownies from a few years ago, but I cut them into bars – about the size and shape of a candy bar – and dunked them in chocolate… you know, like a candy bar. They’re Candy Bar Brownies. Or Brownie Candy Bars, if you will.
Anyway, these were actually easier said than done. When I first had this idea, I thought these were going to be a cinch. They will be a cinch for you because I’m going to guide you through what to do, and what not to do! I worked through the trial and error process so that we’ve got these down pat. You will be all set. I had some growing pains with these. There are several batches of failed Candy Bar Brownies in my freezer. Lucky me!
Now that I’ve got these Candy Bar Brownies figured out, they are quite easy, and they are pretty damn amazing. It’s interesting what a simple batch of brownies and some candy bars can become – not complicated or fancy at all, but damn delicious, I must say!
If you’re like us and you found yourself with a ton of leftover Halloween candy, start with these Candy Bar Brownies!
Candy Bar Brownies
Ingredients
- 1 box brownie mix My fave is Betty Crocker Original Supreme with the chocolate syrup pouch
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 25 assorted mini candy bars I used Milky Way, Snickers, 3 Musketeers, and Milky Way Dark
- 24 oz. chocolate almond bark
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine brownie mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. If you use a different brownie mix than in the recipe instructions, prepare it according to package directions!
- Line a 9x9-inch pan (must use this pan size!) with foil, letting it hang over the edges.
- Spray with non-stick spray.
- Spread half the brownie batter into the pan.
- Scatter the candy bars over the brownie batter - I did 5 rows of 5, spacing them pretty evenly.
- Spread remaining brownie batter into the pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes, or until edges are crisp, and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Remove pan to a wire rack to cool completely. Using the foil edges, carefully lift the brownies out of the pan.
- Once cool, refrigerate brownies for 20-30 minutes, but no longer. You want them firm enough to make neat cuts, but not too firm that the candy bars inside are difficult to cut through.
- Cut into 12 bars, 2 rows of 6.
- Place bars on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
- Freeze until firm, at least 2 hours.
- Heat the chocolate in a medium saucepan over low heat until melted and smooth.
- Using a fork (a toothpick isn't sturdy enough, and the brownies are too heavy), dunk each brownie bar into the chocolate, thoroughly coating it. Drip off excess, and place on the parchment paper to set.
- Allow to set, about 15-20 minutes. DEVOUR!
