This lime sherbet punch is the quintessential party drink! With lime sherbet, raspberry soda, pineapple juice, and maraschino cherries, it’s sweet, fruity, and refreshing!
I recently made goulash for the first time in ages and ages, and I was talking about how it is such a nostalgic food for me because it was a dish that my high school cafeteria used to serve us on a regular basis.
I love nostalgic food! I can’t wait to make goulash again in the fall when I’m feeling extra nostalgic anyway (what is it about fall that makes a person want to reminisce?) and when I’m even more in the mood for comfort food! It’s going to be such a jog down memory lane.
That’s how I feel about lime sherbet punch too. It’s a big ol’ jog down memory lane.
I feel like every family picnic or bridal shower for every friend since the beginning of time had a massive bowl of sherbet punch as the cornerstone of the beverage table. And church socials too, now that I think about it.
My lime sherbet punch recipe starts with raspberry-flavored soda as a base, pineapple juice as the ‘mixer’, and big scoops of lime sherbet floating on top. It’s all fizzy and effervescent, cold and slushy, refreshing, tangy, and sweet – all at the same time.
I really forgot how delicious it is, and it’s ridiculously simple to make. You almost can’t even say that you ‘made’ anything at all because it’s just so easy. There’s some pouring involved, and then there’s some scooping action, but that’s about it.
I also think it has the potential to be incredibly versatile. There’s only a few ingredients to making this punch, and they all have excellent substitutes. I think it could be fun to have a “Sherbet Punch Bar” where you pick the soda you want to use as a base, mix in equal parts of any kind of juice, and then top it with a scoop of your favorite sherbet flavor. See – doesn’t that sound delicious?
Better still, you could truly make it a bar, and could incorporate an array of different flavored liquors. Whether you go with that option will really depend on the occasion and what it is you’re celebrating, of course!!!
Honestly, you don’t need any reason at all to make this beverage though. While I typically associate it with parties and social events, this is also just a perfect summer refreshment. I have visions of myself relaxing and reading on my patio, or lounging by a pool, and holding a tall glass of lime sherbet punch in my hand with one of those little umbrellas tucked into it.
I’m already looking forward to ‘making’ this again to experiment with different flavors!!
